Custom OEM Mahjong Mats: From Artwork and Sample Approval to Bulk
Step path for custom OEM mahjong mats — artwork handoff, sample approval, and bulk release for American Mah Jongg table covers without inventing fabric specs.
Sourcing GuideThis page is the artwork → sample → bulk path for custom OEM mahjong mats (American table covers / play mats). It is not the factory scorecard (how to choose a mat factory) and not the wholesale path overview (mat primer). Commercial landing: American mahjong mat factory.
Hi Mah Jongg produces OEM covers factory-direct alongside tile sets. Full custom art should be sample-first. In-stock prints remain faster when calendars are tight — see table covers.

Stage 1 — Artwork that prints on a cover
Send:
- Vector or high-res illustration (SVG/AI/PDF/PNG as available)
- Safe margins / bleed notes if you have them; otherwise ask factory defaults
- Color targets (hex/Pantone) labeled print vs background
- Whether the mat must match a tile SKU palette (custom tiles / custom set)
- Intended table size or “sample standard first”
Avoid trademarked characters and team marks. Theme nights sell; IP headaches do not.
Stage 2 — Sample approval
Approval loop:
- Feasibility notes (print method family, size assumption)
- Strike-off / physical sample
- Daylight review — color, edge finish, fold behavior
- Written change list
- “Approved for bulk” with art version ID
Photograph the approved sample. If the mat ships in a kit with tiles, approve mat and set together when colors must match.
Stage 3 — Bulk and reorder lock
Before mass:
| Lock item | Why |
|---|---|
| Art version ID | Reorders match year two |
| Size assumption | Cartons and listings stay honest |
| Packing method | Gift vs export diverge |
| Kit rules | Mat-only vs set+mat SKU |
| Ship-to / port | Freight guidance |
Quantity bands should mirror how you quote sets (MOQ & pricing) so kit quotes stay comparable.
Kit photography and listing notes
Wholesale teams often approve a beautiful mat sample, then shoot listings under warm LEDs that shift the print. Before bulk:
- Shoot the approved sample under mixed daylight + listing lights
- Note whether the mat is backdrop-only or a sellable SKU line
- If tiles share the story, keep one art version ID across the kit brief
- Ask packing whether the cover ships folded, rolled, or flat — it affects carton cube
These notes belong in the same RFQ thread as size and art ID so ops and creative stay aligned.
When not to open full OEM art
Choose in-stock or logo-only private label when:
- Season drops in weeks, not months
- You are testing sell-through before a custom illustration budget
- Packaging brand is enough for the first PO
That fork is covered on the primer and wholesale private-label mats options.
